PROFESSIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
March 1, 2006– appointment as Caroline Werner Gannett Professor of the Humanities, RIT: charge “to explore the intersections of the humanities with the social sciences, sciences and technology” both campus-wide and nationally; founded and directs The Caroline Werner Gannett Project, including the series, “Visionaries in Motion” featuring new, interdisciplinary courses, related colloquia, workshops and events.
2002-2005 –Professor and Chair, Department of English and Foreign Languages; College of Liberal Arts, RIT
1986-2002 Louise R. Noun Endowed Chair and Professor of Women’s Studies and English, Grinnell College: appointment to introduce and incorporate gender and women’s studies into a liberal arts curriculum through various activities: forums on faculty research and curricular revision; discussion groups; grants (GTE Foundation; Iowa Humanities Board); colloquium speakers from national and international venues; new course development and national conferences (“Reading and Writing the Female Body,” October, 1987; “Celebrating the Associated Colleges of the Midwest: Ten Years of Feminist Inquiry and Leadership,” April, 1988; “Rethinking the Family from Multicultural Perspectives,” October, 1988; Women in Developing Countries, April, 1989) . Also initiated Concentration in Gender and Women’s Studies, 1989.
